Hingham's 50 Flags Campaign Supports Beloved 4th of July Parade

Hingham's 4th of July Parade is an annual event that brings together the community in a celebration of patriotism and unity. It is a cherished tradition that requires significant funding to organize and present.

The 50 Flags Campaign serves as the primary fundraising source for covering the annual cost of organizing and presenting Hingham's 4th of July Parade. With a price tag of $55,000, this beloved event requires substantial financial support. It's important to note that no tax dollars are allocated to cover these expenses. The success of the 50 Flags Campaign is crucial in ensuring the parade remains a vibrant and cherished tradition for the Hingham community.

To show your support for the parade, the 50 Flags Campaign offers an opportunity to participate by renting flags. Flag installations will take place for a two-week period, starting on the weekend of June 24th and 25th. These flags will be proudly displayed throughout the community, symbolizing the collective spirit of patriotism. The removal of flags will occur on the weekend of July 8th and 9th, marking the conclusion of this remarkable display.  You have until Tuesday, June 20th to reserve your flags.  Reservations can be made online.

The campaign offers two rental options: a minimum donation of $100 for 50 flags or $65 for 25  flags.  You can choose the option that best suits your budget and desire to be part of this community-driven initiative.

One of the remarkable aspects of the 50 Flags Campaign is its direct support for youth programs.  Volunteers from the Hingham High School sports teams: football, soccer, field hockey, track, crew, baseball, tennis, hockey and lacrosse. Also, South Shore SNAP, Hingham Youth Football, and town citizens help install and remove the flags.

 80% of the gross proceeds from the donations is put towards growing the flag inventory, while funding the parade.  The remainder of the proceeds goes to the volunteer youth groups that install and remove the flags.  In 2022, that was $5,600.
